In the game the player is Mario as they attempt to surpass multiple levels that have random traps dotted around the maps. Each time Mario triggers a trap, he immediately dies, prompting the player to restart. The player will need to avoid the traps and death if they want to reach the flag, however, unlike the other versions of Mario the player is not given a count on how many times they have died.
